November is Child Safety & Protection month. Let this month remind you to take a good look at your home and update any safety needs. You need to routinely reevaluate the safety needs in your home as your children grow. Accidents are best prevented by first foreseeing potential problems, so take preventative measures to ensure that accidents are less likely to happen.
Depending on your child’s age or any new children you may have had, it may be time to make some changes. Here are a few things you need to consider with your child’s safety in mind:
- electrical outlets
- cabinets
- stairs
- vitamins & medicines
- blinds
- and many, many more
- smoke detectors
- safety gates
- latches on windows
- railings
The best way to learn how to most thoroughly protect your children is by getting on eye level with your child. It may seem silly to crawl around the house, but there is nothing more important that protecting your kids. Take a few minutes and get on their level, looking for any potential hazards that may be accessible to them.
Children are such a blessing.
Always continue to make their safety top priority.
