Are You Aware?

One in four women and one in seven men in the United States suffer serious physical violence at the hands of a partner at least once during their lifetimes.

Every day, three women lose their lives in this country as a result of domestic violence. Millions of Americans live in daily, silent fear within their own homes.

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time dedicated to increasing the awareness of this very severe problem and helping to eliminate violence in the home.

Many of us may know someone or have been affected personally by domestic violence, and we need to take action to help ensure the safety of ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities.

During October, Americans are encouraged to speak out against domestic violence and support local efforts to assistant and enable victims of this type of crime in finding the help that they need to escape a devastating situation or find healing in the aftermath.

For more information about how you can take action and make a stand against domestic violence, visit the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence’s website, click here.

Together we can help work toward eliminating these statistics nationwide and improve the lives of those affected by domestic violence.
